Thank you for the tip at the end, about running an instance of IIS on port 80 to redirect traffic to the https website. I was scratching my head for a while about how I would accomplish that... I never thought about running IIS too. The tip was greatly appreciated!

Various other SSL-certificate CA's have required chain certificates for their respective issued SSL certs.

These will be required during installation in order to create a chain of certification back to a trusted root CA.

Had problems with Vista 32 Bit and Radio Shack cable. Had to do a restore after PC refused to start. Now got request to update Vista from windows automatic update routine to include "Radio Shack Bus Controller and Ports - Radio Shack USB to serial cable". I asume this is on the Microsoft site. Does any body know the origin of this update? Should I go ahead and install it or try the fix above?

Thanks for your input. Please reply to e-mail address.

D'oh! Problem was my own, I used the CAs instructions for generating the request and this seems to have been the problem.

Note you are missing a . in sdp.keystore in the generating the CSR step.

Great instructions and found them very useful, but despite each step appearing to go perfectly when I view my webpage in IE7 (using an Intranet GoDaddy certificate, hostname only not FQDN) the certificate path is displayed with the certificate as its own root, no chain.

Viewed on the server the certificate chain is correct.

It's too bad you weren't able to get CentOS to work. I've used Fedora in my job for many years, but the short life cycle of each version became a real hassle for me...It's important that I'm able to quickly patch these machines as vulnerabilities are discovered. The reason I used Fedora in the past was that I found it had much better hardware support than other distros (thanks to Redhat support). CentOS seems to be the best of both words for my needs - excellent hardware support and a long patch life cycle.
